Field Directions

The BAFHA men’s league plays on international standard artificial turf pitches located at UC Berkeley (Underhill Field) and Stanford University (Varsity Field Hockey Stadium).

UC Berkeley — Underhill Field

Address: 2695 Channing Way (between College Ave & Bowditch St), Berkeley, CA 94720

Surface: Dedicated water-based field hockey astroturf atop the Underhill Parking Facility.

Driving Directions:
  • From San Francisco (via Bay Bridge / I-80 E): Take I-80 East across the Bay Bridge. Follow signs for CA-24 East toward Walnut Creek. Take the Claremont Ave exit, turn left onto Claremont, turn left onto College Ave, then turn left onto Channing Way.
  • From the East Bay / South Bay (via I-880 N / CA-24): Take CA-24 toward Oakland/Berkeley. Exit at Claremont Ave, turn left on Claremont, left on College Ave, then left on Channing Way.
Parking & Facility Access:

Public paid parking is available inside the Underhill Parking Structure underneath the playing surface (entry on Channing Way or Haste St). Take the pedestrian stairs or elevator to the rooftop pitch.

Stanford University — Varsity Field Hockey Stadium

Address: 285 Pampas Lane, Stanford, CA 94305 (Varsity Turf Field / Arrillaga Sports Complex)

Surface: Dedicated international competition water-based astroturf with stadium seating.

Driving Directions:
  • From Highway 101: Take the Embarcadero Rd / Oregon Expressway exit west toward Palo Alto/Stanford. Follow Oregon Expressway to El Camino Real (CA-82). Turn right onto El Camino Real, then make a left onto Serra Street onto campus. Turn right onto Pampas Lane.
  • From Highway 280: Take Page Mill Rd exit east toward Palo Alto. Turn left onto Junipero Serra Blvd, right onto Stanford Ave, and left onto Bowdoin St / Campus Dr. Follow signs to Serra St and turn onto Pampas Lane.
Parking & Facility Access:

Park in the Arrillaga Sports Center lot or along Pampas Lane. Follow the walkway between the tennis courts and daycare center past the fence line to the main stadium gate.

Facility Reminders:
  • Only turf shoes or flat-soled athletic footwear are permitted — no molded soccer cleats allowed on the water turf.
  • Water only on the field — no flavored drinks, food, gum, or seeds inside the fenced playing enclosure.
